A 6-Week Online Course Offering

It is fair to say that we are doing a good job at teaching our children and adolescents the academic subjects, such as history, science and mathematics. However, does it sometimes baffle you how we are not teaching them how to navigate the plethora of difficult emotions and distractions we all face as youth and adults, especially in the teen years?

Well, this is where mindfulness training can help our younger generations develop the skillset to navigate these inevitable challenges we face as humans. Mindfulness is an ancient practice, verified by modern science.

Mindfulness is probably the most important skill I have ever discovered. Having experienced its benefits in navigating the ups and (especially!) downs of my life, it feels natural to find myself training to be a mindfulness teacher, and pursuing an MSc in mindfulness.

This 6-week introductory course on mindfulness for tweenagers (ages 8 - 12) is my humble attempt at addressing my own complaint: "Why wasn't I taught this skill back in school?!". Even though the 10-year-old me can't take this course (a bit too late for that 😉), the me-of-today joyfully invites your 10-year-olds to learn and cultivate this life-changing skill with me...in an intentional, playful, and safe learning space.

My professional training includes the following:

1. Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program through the University of California at Berkeleyled by Tara Brach and Jack KornfieldAs part of graduation, we have a practicum to create and deliver a mindfulness meditation curriculum. The 6-week mindfulness for tweens program is my practicum.

2. MSc, Studies in Mindfulness at the University of Aberdeen: I'm currently in the second year of this 3-year Master's degree.
